I went to this store with my Fiance, we had a "hotrock" which was something new and it was really nice. The staff were friendly and helpful too. Couldn't fault it. I would defiantly go back!

to be honest i shouldn't be writing something like this about a store such as cold rock. let me just say that the ice cream was well made and the environment was good. a wide range of ice-cream and the staff seemed to operate well under pressure. my main issue with this store in particular is the fact that its success its almost entirely attributed to the grilled next door. that and i dont think there is another fast and commercial ice cream place in the city centre. i travel around and to give a comparison. a kids tub is 5$ and 1$ for each add in. a large tub is somewhere upwards of 7-8. a small take home is 14.90$ but a large take home is 24.90. i dont think 7-8$ for a rather small tub of ice cream is worth it. im using large because its the middle ground of sizes. you end up paying upwards of 10$ for a tub of ice cream with the mix ins. the mix ins are also 1$ each which dosnt scale what so ever. i can almost see 1$ for a kitkat or a timtam but 1$ for 4 gummi bears? the vast majority of other cold rocks iv visited set a price of 50c per mix in and have different prices for more expensive mix ins. the small take home is 14.90 which is above average but not unheard of for ice cream. 24.90 for a large is a bloody outrage. it dose not cost you 10$ to add 1-2 extra scoops of ice cream. thats a rip off. i dont know the price it costs for you to make ice cream and maintain business but if you run this establishment then you should consider lowering the prices to scale correctly. i also think that while having a large range of flavours is good, to many is... well... bad for business. while i love been able to choose between lots of flavours the bendigo cold rock has as many as they could fit in. how is this bad you might be thinking? well it costs more money to make more ice cream, more flavours make people spend more time picking what they want and ultimately bombards the customer with confusing names and numbers. while it seems like a good idea, it makes getting icecream alot harder and probably costs the business more money. if i were them, id go through and find the lowest selling flavours and cut out the bottom. you dont need 5 kinds of chocolate. you need 2, maximum. it also means you can make more of 1 flavour for the bench and thus take pressure off not having enough to feed the masses. those are my 2 major gripes. i think this business is successful thanks to its location when infact its product is over priced and boastful of things like variety and service when infact its rather bellow average. aside from that i think that your staff should remember to ask if people would like take away or eat in. iv got ice cream to go twice and once to sit in. over filling the ice cream and putting a spoon in it is fine if your sitting in but how am i meant to drive in 36 degree heat with a flipping ice cream next to me. i get it your staff are busy and trying to keep up and cant always ask but the fact is they never asked and they probably should. in conclusion, if you work for cold rock bendigo i think you should consider lowering your prices for large take home, kiddies and some of the lower cost mix ins. infact i think you should lower the price of everything by 1$ on the menu but your not going to do that. you SHOULD do it because its the right thing to do and your product isnt worth 10$ for 400mls. even though your going to make lots of money regardless, why respect the consumer? bah in these times who needs to respect the consumer at all. business is about squeezing every last penny and giving them the absolute bare minimum of what they asked for. and to those of you who are intending to go and buy some nice cold rock ice cream after a grilled dinner, consider going to the supermarket, buying a 1l tub of cookies and cream ice cream, smashing up a bag of tim tams, and mixing it all together. i just saved you 20$
